Wanted: Caring individuals who like to go on walks, play fetch and help find new homes for their friends. The cats, dogs and other animals currently residing at the Pennsylvania SPCA (PSCPA) are looking for humane humans to volunteer their time and services at the PSPCA adoption centers.

The PSPCA has volunteer opportunities to meet all schedules, abilities and desires — from animal care assistants and dog walkers to office support. PSPCA volunteers are also needed for special events, handling animals and processing adoptions.

Volunteers who are able to open their homes and hearts as dog and cat foster parents are also needed. Foster homes allow our PSPCA animals to receive individualized attention while they recover from illness or until they are old enough to be placed in a new home. Animals placed in foster care often include orphaned and injured puppies and kittens, litters with moms and adult animals that need extra care while they overcome difficulties or medical crisis.
PSCPA volunteers must be 16 or older, submit a volunteer application and attend a training session. Foster volunteers must be interviewed by PSPCA staff. For more information on becoming a PSPCA volunteer and for training dates, contact Volunteer Coordinator Stacey Plattenberger at (215) 426-6304, extension 244, or volunteers@pspca.org, or visit www.pspca.org.
